About Us

founded in 2012

In 2012 Founder Josh Wilkins decide to live on the streets of Melbourne for 6 months (by choice).

Born with a compassionate heart and a vision for positive change, Josh embarked on a journey to make a difference. Raised in Melbourne, Josh cultivated a deep sense of empathy and community spirit that would shape the trajectory of his life.

The Spark of Inspiration:

The seed for our Mobile Shower Service was planted during Josh’s encounters with homelessness in Melbourne. Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness ignited a passion to create a tangible impact on their lives. The idea of a mobile shower service was born from the time Josh spent on the streets, witnessing the lack of access to showers and the belief that: everyone deserves the dignity of cleanliness.

Turning Vision into Reality:

Equipped with determination and fueled by the desire to uplift others, Josh took the leap into entrepreneurship. First he formed ‘One Voice’ and together the initial team tirelessly researched, collaborated with community organizations, and harnessed the support of local businesses to transform the vision into a reality.

Innovation on Wheels:

In 2014, Josh launched One Voice Mobile Shower Services, a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide mobile shower facilities to those in need. The service goes beyond hygiene; it symbolizes a commitment to restoring dignity, rebuilding confidence, and fostering a sense of belonging within the homeless community.

Community Collaboration:

Understanding the power of collaboration, One Voice has forged partnerships with local shelters, existing outreach organisations, businesses, and volunteers. This collaborative approach ensures that our service not only delivers showers but also connects individuals with essential resources, from health services to meal services to clothing donations and employment opportunities.

Challenges Faced and Overcome:

The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but One Voice remains undeterred. Whether navigating logistical hurdles or overcoming misconceptions about homelessness, they approach each obstacle as an opportunity to educate, advocate, and inspire change.

Impact and Recognition:

Our Mobile Shower Service has quickly become a beacon of hope and hygiene in communities across Australia. The impact is measured not just in the number of showers provided but in the lives transformed and the stories of resilience that emerge from these rolling sanctuaries.

Vision for the Future:

Looking ahead, One Voice envisions expanding the reach of our Shower Services in regional Australia, touching more lives, and inspiring similar initiatives in communities across the nation. Their dedication to fostering compassion and making a lasting impact continues to drive the service’s growth and success.

Mobile Shower Journey

from trailer to bus then a van and now our shower trucks

  • 2014: Our Mobile Shower Trailer was built as a pilot project, this was operated in Melbourne City to assess the need.
  • 2015: World First fully self contained Mobile Shower Bus was built for the city of Melbourne after we established a need.
  • 2016: Our Mobile Shower Bus Built for Sydney City
  • 2017: Worlds First Mobile Shower and Laundry Van was built as a second vehicle for Melbourne City.
  • 2018: Our Mobile Shower Trucks we designed to enhance our service after working in the homeless sector for 4 years. We found that our bus was default for people to drive and our shower and laundry van had limited space for the shower recess which didn’t give people that full sense of dignity. We now have 6 trucks in operation.
