Bequests

Your legacy becomes our legacy

A bequest or planned gift to One Voice continues your legacy. By leaving a gift in your Will to One Voice you can help us restore dignity in the lives of many for years to come. It’s never too early to start thinking about a charitable gift in your Will – now could be the perfect time to create your legacy.

Types of bequests

There are many ways you can leave a gift in your Will to assist One Voice with their mission. Your solicitor, trustee or accredited Wills and Estate specialist can assist with the detail, but in general, there are four main types of bequests:

A residuary bequest is when you leave a portion or the remainder of your estate to One Voice after all other bequest and other financial commitments have been honoured. This is a wonderful way to ensure One Voice gets the most help possible, whilst also ensuring your loved ones are taken care of.

Suggested wording in your Will:

“I bequeath to One Voice, ABN 73 613 678 967, (Insert number)% of my residuary estate, to be applied for the purposes of (insert purpose) or by One Voice in such a manner as its Directors may determine. I direct that the receipt in writing of an authorised officer of One Voice shall be deemed proof of payment.”

When you leave specific item, such as property or shares to One Voice.

Suggested wording:

“I bequeath to One Voice, ABN 73 613 678 967, (describe asset accurately), to be applied for the purposes of (insert purpose) or by One Voice in such a manner as its Directors may determine. I direct that the receipt in writing of an authorised officer of One Voice shall be deemed proof of payment.”

A gift to One Voice of a fixed sum of money designated in your Will.

Suggested wording:

“I bequeath to One Voice, ABN 73 613 678 967, the sum of (Insert $ amount), to be applied for the purposes of (insert purpose) or by One Voice in such a manner as its Directors may determine.  I direct that the receipt in writing of an authorised officer of One Voice shall be deemed proof of payment.”

This type of bequest is fulfilled if certain conditions are met. For instance, if your primary beneficiary does not survive you, you can indicate your next choice through a contingent designation.

Please seek advice from a legal solicitor for specific wording on how to leave One Voice a contingent bequest.
